Employers must train more

The third annual report from the Adult Learning Inspectorate which congratulated employers for increasing the level of quality work based training, whilst at the same time warning them that they still need to do more and that the excuse of not being able to find adequate work based training is now wearing very thin, has been welcomed by TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber.

However the TUC believe that Britain remains way behind other countries when it comes to investment in training. With improvements being made all the time to open up opportunity and to improve the levels of training, employers they say must respond by investing more money in training their employees. While there is a strong case for increasing the £4billion government funding for adult learning, employers must increase their contribution too, said Mr. Barber
