Over 100 000 people set to attend World Skills in London

With less than ten weeks to go until the world's largest international skills competition touches down in London, over 100,000 visitors have already registered to attend the event.

 

Preparations for the event are well underway and Team UK's 43 Competitors are now in the final phase of training in skill categories including stonemasonry, hairdressing, landscape gardening and mobile robotics.

 

More than 1,000 competitors are coming from over 55 countries/regions to take part in the four-day competition at ExCeL London from 5-8 October. WorldSkills London 2011 is shaping up to be the biggest skills event yet, taking over 90,000m2 of space at ExCeL London and attracting over 150,000 visitors.

 

As well as seeing some of the world's most talented young people battle it out to become the best of the best, WorldSkills London 2011 has an exciting event programme.

 

Visitors can:

 

  • Find out about hundreds of different careers
  • Have a Go at dozens of different skills such as floristry, carpentry, beauty therapy and web design
  • See dance, drama, art, skills and media Showcases - delivered by winning schools and colleges
  • Receive personal and impartial careers advice; City and Guilds will also be on hand
  • Visit the Make it Happen area, an interactive exhibition hosting top employers and job opportunities, training providers, career organisations and more.
